NATIONAL GAS UPDATE FROM ESV
NATIONAL DATABASE OF CERTIFIED GAS APPLIANCES AND
COMPONENTS
Over the past three years Energy Safe Victoria has been
developing a National Database of Certified Gas Appliances
and Components on behalf of the GTRC (Gas Technical
Regulators Committee). The GTRC is the Gas Technical
Regulators Committee and is made up of members from
each State and Territory in Australia and also New Zealand. It
meets twice a year and its purpose is to discuss both policy
and technical issues that affect the gas industry with a goal
of achieving a consensus approach.
I am pleased to announce that the database was officially
launched on the GTRC website
www.gtrc.gov.auon the 13th
November 2014.
The National Database can be accessed via the GTRC
website or alternatively through the ESV website: www.
esv.vic.gov.au/Gas-Professionals/National-database-of-certified-gas-appliances, directly via
http://equipment.gtrc.
gov.auor at
www.plumbingconnection.au.The National Database of Certified Gas Appliances and
Components is administered and maintained by Energy Safe
Victoria on behalf of the GTRC.
The purpose of the database is to provide all stakeholders
with a complete listing of gas appliances and components
that have been certified by the four nationally recognised
certification bodies.
The four nationally recognised certification bodies are in
no particular order:
∫ Australian Gas Association (AGA)
∫ SAI Global
∫ IAPMO
∫ Global-Mark
The four certification bodies upload their certification
data onto the database typically on a monthly basis. If in
doubt in relation to the validity of the information provided
then the four recognised certification bodies also have their
own certification databases that can be referred to via their
respective websites for confirmation or otherwise of the
information provided. The GTRC website includes links to the
certification bodies’ databases. These links are:
http://www.aga.asn.au/product_directory http://register.saiglobal.com/default.aspx?stype=power http://forms.iapmo.org/ocna/listing/ http://www.global-mark.com.au/en-au/documentcentre/certificatesearch.aspx
The National Database provides a number of search
functions that enable stakeholders to locate what they are
searching for. A number of filtering options assist in the
process such as searching by product category (appliance
or component), selecting the relevant certification body if
this is known, selecting a date range for the certificate or
selecting the status of the certification if this is known.
Additionally stakeholders can find the information they
are searching for by providing the certification number if
this is known or a model number, trade name or product
description for the product.
Details such as total gas consumption, type of flame
supervision and ignition can be obtained where this
information has been provided by the certification body. In
addition annual energy consumption and star ratings are
provided for relevant products such as water heaters, space
heaters and ducted heaters.
The certification status of product in the National
Database not only includes certified product but also
product where the certification has expired or has been
cancelled or suspended. In addition the National Database
indicates when a certification is within 12 months of expiry.
Maintenance of all certifications is subject to periodic
surveillance of certified product by the four respective
recognised certification bodies. Please note that the AGA
does not have expiry dates for its certifications.
Feedback on the National Database is welcomed from the
industry and any suggestions made will be considered for
any future enhancements.
