HOT WATER NEWS

WHAT’S HOT IN HOT WATER

PLUMBING CONNECTION

TAKES A LOOK AT WHAT IS CURRENTLY MAKING NEWS IN THE EVER CHANGING HOT

WATER SECTOR.

DECENTRALISED HOT WATER SYSTEM TO SAVE ENERGY

ANDWATER

Stiebel Eltron’s latest product launch comes with the

unbeatable advantages of a decentralised hot water

system: The mains pressure storage water heaters,

SHC 10 AU and SHC 15 AU, are installed directly

underneath the basin or sink and deliver hot water

immediately and more efficiently.

One of the many highlights of the product is their

compact design: Compared to conventional 25 litre

storage heaters, the SHCs small size frees up precious

space in the cupboard.

In many households, lots of energy is wasted pumping

hot water from a central storage tank to its actual point

of use in the bathroom and kitchen. By installing the hot

water right where it is needed, you eliminate dead legs

and save water, energy and money; and long waiting

times for hot water to arrive at the outlet belong to the

past.

Made in Germany, the SHC tank design incorporates

highly efficient thermal insulation providing minimal

energy losses.

The units easily install right under or near the sink

to be used for one or multiple outlets. Once they are

filled with water, they simply need to be plugged into

a standard power point. With only a 6.5 Amp current

draw, special wiring is not required.

Another plus: the SHC is suitable for all hot water taps

and can be used without any problems with soft and

hard water. The integrated

anode protection

ensures a long life for the

enamelled steel cylinder

which is manufactured by

Stiebel Eltron.

Wise use of advanced

technology can make a

significant difference.

Stiebel Eltron is known for

high quality products – the

SHCs are no exception and

come with a generous 7

year cylinder warranty.

BOSCH OPTIFLOW: CONNECTIVITY, PATENTED

TECHNOLOGY, AND INDUSTRIAL DESIGN

The Bosch OptiFlow is a 6 star continuous flow water

heater designed specifically for Australian conditions.

Bosch claim its OptiFlow is set apart from

conventional continuous flow hot water systems by its

connectivity.

The Installer and Service App allows plumbers to

measure performance and get diagnostic codes in

real time via near-field Bluetooth communication. It

enables trouble-shooting during set-up or servicing,

and suggests solutions for easy adjustments. This

ultimately means less installation and servicing time.

The separate App for consumers lets the user adjust the

temperature, track energy and water usage, and keep

an eye on costs. Both the Trade and Consumer Apps are

available on Android and iOS.

Bosch’s OptiFlow combustion management

system uses a patented algorithm to modulate the

appliance gas valve and fan speed to ensure optimum

combustion. The gas to air ratio is measured four times

per second, and if necessary adjusted. This process

is ongoing over the lifetime of the appliance, ensuring

optimum efficiency.

A new patented Bosch technology known as “Easy

Minimum” allows the OptiFlow hot water system to

operate at very low minimum power output, while

maintaining a stable output temperature for more

comfortable showers. This technology is beneficial in

situations where the incoming water temperature is

high and only a small temperate rise is needed.
