Standards Australia is starting a consultation process to examine the ways in which is distributes content.

Following an arbitration win supporting Standards Australia’s position that future distribution of its content would not be on an exclusive basis, the group is working toward opening up access to its resources and is taking the discussion out to stakeholders and standards users all around Australia.

This will include comprehensive consultation in each capital city across the country, seeking views on the Distribution and Licensing Policy Discussion Paper.

Standards Australia general manager for strategy and engagement Adam Stingemore says: “As an organisation, we have been working to make Australian communities safer, help our economy grow and connect our nation to the world for close to 100 years. This decision late last year has enabled us to take even more steps towards opening up access to our content.”

The discussions in the capital cities, he says, will help to gauge the views of industry, community groups, business, governments, students, and apprentices, and give the chance to hear firsthand what has worked and what needs improving.

“This is an exciting step towards delivering greater value and improving access to Australian Standards, to be taken following careful consideration ensuring Standards Australia’s long term sustainability and the ability to increase the reach and relevance of our content across Australia.”
