A faulty flushing system in toilets in Cincinatti are behind 304 explosions in that city.

A cautionary tale here for manufacturers to test the product and ensure that it is not dangerous.

The Flushmate III Pressure-Assist Flushing System is being recalled by the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Reports of the system bursting and shattering the toilet tank prompted the recall.

304 reports explosions have caused property damage and 14 impact or laceration injuries. The problem occurs when the system bursts at or near the vessel weld seam releasing stored pressure.

The company says there are 2,330,600 of these faulty flushing systems in American homes and about 9,400 in Canada.

The recalled systems were manufactured from October 1997 to February 2008.
