ESO to audit plumbers carrying out electrical work
Plumbers carrying out restricted electrical work as part of their business will be subject to audits from the Electrical Safety Office.
The audit applies to plumbers performing electrical work under their QBCC trade contractor licence as they are deemed to hold an electrical contractor licence.
ESO audits will ensure that work is only performed by appropriately licensed workers, performed safely, and tested to ensure it is safe. The audits will also cover requirements for energised electrical work, isolation and lock out procedures, and documentation and record keeping requirements.
Failures will result in enforcement action which could include statutory notices being issued.
The ESO shares audit findings with the Master Plumbers Association of Queensland to provide feedback to the plumbing industry on emerging or common safety issues.
