Viega Australia Launches New Range of Quality Press Tools
Viega Australia’s new-generation Pressgun 6 Plus and Pressgun Picco 6 Plus set new benchmarks in smart functionality.
The Pressgun 6 Plus and Pressgun Picco 6 Plus can be customised via Bluetooth using the Viega app on a smartphone; the first ensures greater efficiency, while the second protects against loss.
“Viega’s pressguns set completely new standards for the industry,” says Viega Australia & New Zealand Managing Director, Phil Jackson. “They also improve ease of use with their compact dimensions, reduced weight, improved handling, and new batteries with a noticeably longer lifespan.”
Viega’s Pressgun 6 Plus and Pressgun Picco 6 Plus press machines feature precise LED lighting, ensuring optimised illumination of each pressing. Their compact dimensions and rotatable (fully, in the case of the Pressgun 6 Plus) press jaw fixture mean that they can be used even in tight spaces and where pressing is difficult. The integrated lift points for carrying straps or balancers also allow for ergonomic handling.
“The rechargeable battery of the Pressgun 6 Plus provides 25 per cent more capacity at the same size; combined with the energy-efficient drive concept, the result is approximately 35 per cent more press operations than were previously possible,” Jackson explains.
The Pressgun Picco 6 Plus is powered by a 12-volt rechargeable battery system, significantly reducing the tool’s size and weight. Each press operation takes around four seconds to complete, which also speeds up installation time.
Compact Form, Optimised Handling
The Pressgun 6 Plus is six centimetres shorter and around 100 grams lighter than the Pressgun 5. And that’s not all: the centre of gravity is now located over the wrist, resulting in fatigue-free presses. The Pressgun Picco 6 Plus in particular acts like a natural extension of your arm.
Connectivity and Smart functionality
The new Pressgun 6 Plus features a high-performance sender/receiver combination with Bluetooth technology and can be connected to the Viega Tool Services Lite app. This makes it possible to configure the operation mode and adjustable usage lock and to call up information.
The Viega Tool Services Lite App
The Viega app allows users to control the Viega Pressgun 6 Plus interactively. Once the Pressgun 6 Plus has been registered and connected to the Viega Tool Services Lite app on the user’s smartphone via Bluetooth, its operating state can be read out at any time. The battery status can be viewed on the Viega app, along with the number of presses.
Smarter is Safer
For the first time, the Viega Pressgun 6 Plus features reliable adjustable usage lock. This enables flexible setting of usage restrictions which lead to an automatic shutdown: for example, when a certain counter reading, date or time is reached. The Picco 6 Plus has manual lockout.
New Viega SmartCycle
With this operation mode, the pressing process is automatically stopped by the pressgun before it builds up the force for the actual pressing operation. This allows the connector and pipe to be inspected. The press process is then completed with another press of the button.
Brushless motor, 40,000 pressings
Maximum quality for low maintenance costs: the new brushless motor offers greater reliability and efficiency than ever before. The maintenance interval of the Pressgun 6 Plus is 40,000 pressings or four years, whichever occurs first. The LED display and the Viega Tool Services Lite app indicate when maintenance is required – the automatic safety shutdown is triggered after 42,000 presses.
High-endurance charging via a vehicle socket
With their improved battery cell technology, the new batteries have 25 per cent more capacity while remaining the same size. The new 18V batteries and the charger are fully compatible with the existing 18V battery system. The charger also allows for operation with a 12V supply voltage for rapid recharging via a standard car socket.
Freely rotatable press jaw fixture, double illumination LEDs
The features of the new Pressgun 6 Plus all revolve around maximising ease of use – including the press jaw fixture, which is designed without a stop and can therefore rotate all the way round. This makes it even easier to access and press connections in pipe shafts and other difficult-to-reach places. The two illumination LEDs are now positioned in such a way that at least one of them will illuminate the connector.
