R U OK? Let’s Talk…
R U OK? is calling on Australian tradespeople to add conversation skills to their toolkits, and has just released ‘Tradies Tools to Talk’, a conversation guide to help tradies spark a conversation with someone who might be doing it tough and to empower tradies with the tools to know when and how to ask their workmates, ‘Are you OK?’
Additional resources feature ‘tradies’ sharing their stories and practical tips on how to spot the signs someone might be struggling , and provides clear pathways for support if someone answers, ‘no, I’m not OK’.
Why R U OK? Tradies
Trades and construction workers make up a significant portion of the Australian workforce. Within this sector the Building and Construction industry has experienced significantly higher rates of suicide when compared with the general population. 1
R U OK? has developed this resource to:
* Empower and educate those in the trades industry to promote the R U OK? message.
* Proactively look out for one another and normalise talking about life’s ups and down.
* Provide relevant, practical and useful tools and tips on how to have the R U OK? conversation.
