Zip Water releases white paper on sustainable water filtration

Zip Water has released a white paper exploring how sustainability frameworks and tools can guide informed product choices in building design. The paper highlights the role of Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) in providing transparent, verifiable data on environmental impacts and how frameworks like Green Star translate that information into measurable project outcomes.

Despite its everyday presence, water filtration systems are often overlooked in sustainability strategies. Zip Water’s white paper outlines how understanding LCAs and EPDs, how they differ, how they relate and how they provide comparable data, helps specifiers integrate water filtration into sustainable design. LCAs assess environmental impacts across production, use and end-of-life stages, while EPDs present this information in a standardised format for easy comparison.

By linking product-level assessments to building-level outcomes, architects and designers can ensure water filtration systems support broader sustainability goals, including energy efficiency, waste reduction and responsible water management.
