Water supply and drainage for buildings
The 38th CIBW62 International Symposium offers delegates an opportunity to showcase, or access, world-leading, industry-focused research and innovation, and is open to all who have an interest in the field of water supply and drainage for buildings. This year, key themes include: water supply; water efficiency; drainage; sanitation; rainwater/re-use; and modelling. Participants typically include: practitioners; academics; code authorities; consultant engineers, and other industry, commercial and government representatives.
The Symposium has a uniquely international dimension and allows the presentation of work that is at the forefront of research, technical and commercial development in the field. Importantly, the networking opportunities afforded by the meeting also allow delegates a unique forum for exchange of ideas and new knowledge.
The Symposium runs over three days; the first two of which are dedicated to technical sessions, and the third to a technical visit. The symposium dinner will be held on the evening of 29 August.
In addition, the organisers are offering those spouses, partners, friends and family, who may be accompanying delegates on their visit to Edinburgh, an opportunity to participate in organised sight-seeing activities. These run in parallel with the two days of technical sessions, and offer a chance to sample the many historic and cultural sights of both Edinburgh and Glasgow.
The Symposium dates coincide with those of the Edinburgh International Festival, thus allowing delegates to take advantage of a unique opportunity to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere in the city at this time. The Edinburgh Festival is one of the world’s most famous, and offers visitors a wonderfully eclectic mix of arts, culture, music and comedy. Although many events are ticketed and need to be booked in advance, there are a wide range of activities that can be accessed by symposium delegates during their visit. Indeed, there are countless street-performances that will keep visitors entertained throughout the day and into the evening.
The symposium organisers invite you to join them at this unique event, to listen to the engaging presentations made by international speakers, discuss and debate new advances in research and technology, network with friends and colleagues old and new and to join them in one of the most wonderful cities in the world.
