The State Government’s building regulator, Building and Energy, is inviting participants at all levels of the building, construction and plumbing sectors to attend the interactive events.
One roadshow will cover the National Construction Code’s (NCC) 2022 edition, split into sessions on the Building Code of Australia and the Plumbing Code of Australia. Topics will include how to navigate the restructured NCC document, specific advice for wind-affected regions and changes to water temperature delivery.
The other roadshow focuses on the first stage of new WA laws aimed at ensuring subcontractors and suppliers receive timely payments for their work. The sessions will provide an overview of how the Building and Construction Industry (Security of Payment) Act 2021 applies to contracts since it came into effect on 1 August 2022.
Building and Energy Executive Director Saj Abdoolakhan said both roadshows would be of interest to all participants in the building and construction sector, including builders, building surveyors, designers, plumbers, contractors and local government staff.
“As a regulator, one of our key functions is to educate and empower the industries we regulate,” Mr Abdoolakhan said.
“These sessions are a unique opportunity to learn about significant changes that will affect the industry. Participants will also have the opportunity to share information and ask questions about particular areas of interest.”
Registration is essential via Building and Energy’s Eventbrite listings or the “events and seminars” link at commerce.wa.gov.au/building-and-energy/stay-informed
