Urinal games in Japan

Japanese entertainment company Sega has created an entirely new urinal experience: urinal controlled games.

The experimental games have been installed in four of Tokyo’s men’s urinals. Four types of ‘Toylets’ are available to be played and are aimed at drawing attention to digital advertising, which are shown after the game is complete.

Each toilet is fitted with a pressure sensor and a small digital LCD display that is placed at eye level.

The games include ‘Grafitti Eraser, in which a user tries to aim at the pressure sensor in the urinal to erase virtual grafitti, ‘Mannekin Pis’ measures the volume of a user’s stream, ‘The North Wind and The Sun and Me’ uses the strength of your stream to determine the extent to which a virtual girl’s dress is blown up by a digital wind and ‘Splashing Battle’ pits two users against each other to determine strength.

Players who wish to keep their high scores can download them onto a flash drive.

While this may be fun, Sega has no plans to roll them out as actual products.
