South East Water works with industry to combat training gap
South East Water, in partnership with the Chisholm Institute, are developing a comprehensive suite of training modules for the plumbing industry aimed at providing greater understanding and building skills around plumbing work that is done at the interface with water corporation assets. This training initiative also recognises the need to build closer relationships with the plumbing and building industry, addressing a long standing training gap, as the first of its type.
The first training module launched is in response to a lack of specific backflow prevention training covering the installation, operation, testing and maintenance of Single Check Valves (testable).
The module includes an overview of backflow requirements, testing and maintenance of Single Check Valve Testable (SCVT) and Single Check Detector Assembly Testable (SCDAT), recording and lodging test reports and understanding South East Water’s Asset Information System (SEWmap).
Initially three courses have been scheduled: 27 February, 17 April and 26 June 2014 with further course dates to be announced. Each course will be held between 4pm–8pm at Chisholm Institute, Frankston.
Additional training modules scheduled to be released in coming months include:
– Property Sewerage Plans (PSPs)
– Recycled Water
– Water supply metering and servicing
– Fire Services
