Rinnai has launched its first electric continuous-flow hot water system, the Rinnai Efinity. The innovation is as significant as the company’s first continuous gas flow hot water system that debuted in the 1990s.
The Rinnai Efinity is a high-performing three-phase continuous flow hot water solution, available in 19kW or 29kW capacities (with a 14kW variant being added later this year) and has been developed with residential apartments and office buildings in mind. It comes in a choice of 50°C or 60°C options to suit the needs of the end user.
At just 471mm high, 227mm wide and 103mm deep, it’s ideal for discreet indoor placement in a range of settings and particularly beneficial to residential apartments and office buildings where space is at a premium. Adding to its sleek design, the Efinity boasts a touchscreen display in a compact, matte unit that blends in with any modern bathroom, kitchen or laundry décor.
It’s also co-designed by local engineers and built with market-leading components to ensure the reliability that customers have come to know and expect from Rinnai.
“The Rinnai Efinity adds an electrically powered continuous flow water heater product range to our class-leading industry mainstay, the Rinnai Infinity gas continuous flow hot water systems,” Rinnai Australia group manager, product strategy, planning and distribution Patrick Corcoran explains.
“This range extension was a move to expand our hot water offering in response to the Australian market shift to electric products. The electric continuous flow market is small in relative terms to gas but it’s quickly growing and has relatively fewer competitors.”
As an electric hot water system, it gives users precise temperature control and automatically adjusts the hot water supply at the selected temperature, even when there are changes in water flow or multiple taps are being used at once.
Patrick says that the unit uses precise algorithms to manage the exact power required to heat water: “An ECO mode can be used to preset the maximum water flow rate, from 6-9L/minute and can be reduced in 1L/minute increments. This means that the user can set the exact flow rate required, ensuring the least amount of power is used to deliver the hot water.
“Additionally, the unit comes with one of the largest capacities on the market at 29kW.”
The solution was created with plumbing professionals in mind. Weighing only 4.3kg, the compact unit can be installed in several different configurations for a versatile deployment. The unit is also simple to disassemble and install. It comes with a template to guide installers as they position the three mounting screws on the pipe positions for through-wall applications.
“This simple installation and low clearance aspects of the Rinnai Efinity make it suitable for new build, retrofit and replacements,” Patrick says.
The Rinnai Efinity complies with industry standards, delivering hot water in accordance with AS 3498, ensuring it meets the required safety and performance standards. For added peace of mind, it comes with a five-year residential warranty and a one-year commercial warranty.
Patrick says that since launching the unit at the ARBS Sydney Exhibition in May 2024, there has been a great deal of interest in the product, especially the look and feel of the product and control interface.
“This interest has only increased since the launch and we’re working hard to introduce the 14kW model which is the next evolution of the lineup,” he says.
“We’re excited to bring the Rinnai Efinity range into the already substantial Rinnai hot water offering. It’s an important step in expanding our range and enhancing our renewable credentials as the market continues to transition.”
