Rheem announces $60,000 worth of apprentice grants
Rheem has announced $60,000 in apprentice plumbing grants, offering 20 grants for the second year in a row.
Rheem Australia marketing director John Collignon says that Rheem has been supporting apprentice plumbers since 2012, offering grants to more than 240 plumbers.
“We want to shine a light on those who are not only committed to our industry but are doing everything they can to build a successful career,” he says.
In 2024, Rheem apprentice plumber grants doubled to a total of 20 grants, and five $1,000 recognition awards were added.
In 2025, Rheem will again offer 20 grants as part of their program, and recipients will receive $2,000 to assist with their TAFE/RTO fees and textbooks and $1,000 to help build their trade toolbox.
“Applications are open to Australians enrolled in TAFE/RTO or are participating in a school-based apprenticeship and are employed by a licensed plumber or gas fitter,” John says.
“We encouraged all apprentices, from school leavers to mature age career switches to apply.”
In 2024, 56% were aged 20 or younger and 28% were aged between 21 and 29. Rheem discovered that 45% of applicants wished for better support or advancement opportunities.
“The Rheem apprentice plumber grants is our way to give back to the plumbing community, build confidence among apprentices and support them as they embark on a journey to become a qualified plumber,” John says.
John encourages those applying this year to be themselves.
“We want to hear about your journey, including your challenges and achievements as an apprentice plumber.”
Applications will close at 11:59pm on 27 April 2025 and successful grant recipients will be announced in June 2025.
