New director elected to AIRAH board

AIRAH has elected Mikaila Ganado, M.AIRAH to its national board of directors joining Paul Jackson, F.AIRAH and Ura Sarfejoo, M.AIRAH, who were re-elected to the board at AIRAH’s National Convention this year.

The convention was held remotely this year in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and for the first time in AIRAH’s 100-year history, the board has achieved gender equity.

“It’s fantastic that the AIRAH board will have a balance of men and women going forward,” AIRAH president Ian Harwood says.

“In order for a board such as AIRAH’s to function effectively, you need a balance of different kinds of experience, backgrounds and perspectives.

“And in our case, this has been achieved without the need for quotas or the like. All of AIRAH’s directors have been elected in their own right. All of our directors bring a particular set of skills, so to speak, which we will need to harness to help shepherd AIRAH through at this most challenging of times.”

Mikaila will join the board for the AGM on 19 May which will also be held remotely. At the meeting, she will replace Stefan Jensen, F.AIRAH, who decided not to nominate for the board his term.

“I’d like to thank Stefan for his service and his commitment to the board,” Mikaila says.

“He will be missed, but knowing Stefan he will continue to offer his opinion from the sidelines.”
