NETZSCH launches high-flow TORNADO T1 XXLB-F rotary lobe pump

NETZSCH Pumps USA has introduced the TORNADO T1 XXLB-F Rotary Lobe Pump, a high-performance model designed for large-scale and high-volume pumping duties.

The XXLB-F delivers flow rates of up to 6,160gpm (1,400m³/h) and differential pressures up to 174psi (12 bar), extending the TORNADO range into higher-capacity applications while maintaining a compact, modular design.

Built on the T1 Generation F platform, the XXLB-F is suited to applications including wastewater treatment, biogas, membrane filtration, tank depots, pulp mills and refineries. Available in three sizes, XXLB 2F, 4F and 6F, the pump provides up to 35% more flow than previous T1 models, with high energy efficiency and suitability for dry installation.

The pump features a one-piece, flow-optimised housing and revised lobe geometry to improve volumetric efficiency and gently handle shear-sensitive and solids-laden media. Wider lobe tips reduce backflow, while axial and optional radial wear plates manufactured from abrasion and chemical-resistant materials extend service life in harsh environments.

Serviceability is supported through Full Service-In-Place (FSIP) access, allowing lobes, wear plates and seals to be replaced from the front without removing the pump from the pipework. The modular design reduces the number of wear parts and supports a range of seal options, including single, double and API-compliant cartridge seals.

The XXLB-F also incorporates the NETZSCH Gearbox Security System (GSS), which uses an air-gap barrier between the mechanical seal and gearbox to prevent fluid ingress. This design protects gears and bearings, supports predictive maintenance and reduces the risk of catastrophic failure.

Additional features include self-priming capability, consistent flow under varying back pressures, reversible flow direction and mobile configurations for emergency or remote installations. With up to 25% higher energy efficiency, the XXLB-F offers a cost-effective solution for demanding pumping applications.

The TORNADO T1 XXLB-F is suitable for environmental, energy, chemical and industrial markets, handling media such as sludge, biogas slurry, paint, cooked starch, fuels and molasses for both new installations and retrofit projects.
