Standards Australia Training marks a significant step in the organisation’s mission to empower professionals with the knowledge and confidence to apply standards in real-world settings.
A new era of standards education
Across all trades, standards are the backbone of safe, compliant and high-quality work. For those starting out or stepping into new responsibilities, understanding how to apply standards on the job takes time and practice. That’s where Standards Australia Training comes in.
Built on a foundation of expert collaboration and practical insight, the platform delivers flexible, self-paced online courses tailored to the needs of busy professionals. The training is designed to fit around your schedule while providing practical, standards-based guidance you can use immediately on the job.
“This platform showcases our ongoing commitment to ensuring our standards are understood by those who use them,” Standards Australia chief development officer Adam Stingemore says.
“We’re proud to be working with some of the most respected names in industry, academia and training to deliver high-quality, standards-based education.”
Courses that speak your language
At launch, the platform features a range of courses relevant to the building and construction sectors, with more to come in the months ahead. Among the initial offerings are:
- AS/NZS 3500 plumbing course series: Developed in partnership with Pointsbuild, these four courses provide practical guidance on the AS/NZS 3500 plumbing standards, helping plumbers stay compliant and up to date with the latest requirements.
- Fire safety measures: Fire doors: Developed with the Building Commission NSW, this course supports compliance with fire safety regulations, focusing specifically on the correct installation and maintenance of fire doors.
- Constructing with confidence: Understanding Australian standards: Also developed with the Building Commission NSW, this course explores how standards drive safety, quality and productivity across sectors. It’s a great primer for anyone looking to understand the broader impact of standards on the built environment.
- AS ISO/IEC 42001:2023 – Understanding the AI management system standard: Developed with the Australian National University, this course introduces the world’s first international ISO standard for AI management systems, now adopted in Australia. This forward-looking module will benefit those interested in how emerging technologies intersect with compliance and safety.
Designed for the real world
Each course offered by Standards Australia Training is developed in collaboration with regulators, academics and technical specialists to ensure the content is not only accurate but also relevant to day-to-day work. The result is training that speaks directly to the challenges and responsibilities faced by tradespeople on the ground.
The platform is also digitally enabled, with every course offering a certificate of completion and a digital credential that you can showcase on your professional profiles. This is particularly valuable for those looking to learn about standards within their industry or bolster their career prospects.
More to come
More courses are in development, covering a wide range of topics across key areas of industry, innovation, and best practice. The platform is set to grow alongside the needs of the industry, with future courses expected to address emerging technologies, evolving compliance requirements and sector-specific challenges across trades.
For trades professionals who’ve long relied on standards to guide their work, this new training platform is a significant progress in allowing flexibility to learn when and how it suits you, without compromising on quality or relevance.
