Bathroom renovations, no matter how basic, are always a costly exercise with recent figures from HIA showing bathroom renovations now cost between $15,500 and $20,000. While these figures depend on the size of the bathroom and finishes chosen, there are some bathroom brands determined to ensure good design and high quality are available to all, irrespective of budget.

The new Kumin collection of tapware, from Kohler, embraces simple design and high-end performance. The single lever basin mixers, in standard and tall, feature soft-shaped lines with pillowed profile to lever and spout. Matching shower mixer, with or without diverter, echoes this shape.

The mixers’ 35mm cartridge ensures high performance – testing, involving an impressive one million cycles, showed a lifecycle of at least 50 years of usage. This is twice the industry standard according to Kohler.

The mixer’s integrated aerator creates a full flow of water yet the tap’s rating is an excellent five star WELS with 6 litres of water per minute.

This style of understated tapware is particularly useful for smaller bathrooms, ensuites and powder rooms.

And for those who like the style of Kumin there is also a kitchen mixer – four star WELS (7.5L/min) – in the range!
