Grundfos launches CU 302 controller to improve the reliability of residential bore water systems
Grundfos has launched its CU 302 controller for residential groundwater installations that use 3” and 4” SQE submersible pumps.
The controller is designed to deliver constant water pressure and advanced remote monitoring for home owners and rural properties, at a time when many regional households are becoming increasingly reliant on bore water. Groundwater accounts for around 30% of Australia’s total water use, with pressure on supplies growing in several regions.
The CU 302 features built-in Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity and integrates with the Grundfos GO and Grundfos Home mobile applications. Grundfos GO is aimed at installers and service professionals, offering system setup, monitoring and access to operational data, while Grundfos Home allows home owners to receive notifications and view system performance remotely.
The connectivity features allow users to monitor pump operation, identify potential issues early and optimise performance. Remote monitoring is particularly relevant in regional Australia, where installers often service large geographic areas and has been shown to reduce unnecessary site visits by up to 40%.
The controller also integrates with Grundfos Connect, a web-based platform that enables remote monitoring and control of pumps. When paired with a Grundfos Connect subscription, users can access real-time performance data, supporting proactive maintenance, troubleshooting and improved system reliability.
When used with Grundfos 3” and 4” SQE submersible pumps, the CU 302 automatically adjusts pump speed to maintain constant pressure as water demand changes. This approach also allows for smaller pressure tanks compared with traditional fixed on/off systems. The controller shares the same dimensions as its predecessor, making it suitable for straightforward replacement in existing installations.
Grundfos regional manager – Oceania Sam Ryder says the controller represents a shift towards smarter water management in residential systems.
“The CU 302 is more than a controller, it’s the next step in intelligent water management for residential systems. With built-in connectivity, home owners and professionals can monitor their water systems from their phones, keep pressure consistent and address issues before they become costly breakdowns,” he says.
