Bigger and better in Qld
Connection Magazines managing director Jeff Patchell, Plastec founder Syd Hawthorne and Plastec business development manager Tony Mitchell.
Jeff Patchell has been out visiting customers and dropped in on Plastec this week which is based at Caloundra on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.
Founded by plumber Syd Hawthorne in the early 1990s, Plastec has been going from strength to strength and now has over a thousand products on its order list.
Syd has built a great team around him and the company is a major employer in the region.
Jeff was shown around Plastec’s factory and says the amount of injection moulding equipment there was impressive, proving the company isn’t afraid to invest.
Plastec pumps out thousands of basic pipe fittings such as bends, swivels, junctions, adaptors and clips on a daily basis and has fills an important void in the fittings market that has been ignored by the larger overseas-owned piping companies.
Syd told Jeff Plastec has more in store, including developing products that are going to save plumbers time and solve everyday problems onsite.
At a later meeting with Samios Plumbing Supplies in Brisbane, Jeff learned that Plastec was runner-up in the 2017 National Supplier of the Year Award – not surprising at all.
