A new manager for Australia’s Philmac
Pipe fittings manufacturer Philmac has announced Elliot Burke as its new executive general manager .
Elliot will head up Philmac’s Australian operations with a 200-strong workforce manufacturing and distributing Australian-made plastic pipe fitting products around the world. Elliott supercedes Mark Nykiel who, after almost five years leading Philmac, has been appointed as the new chief executive of manufacturer and supplier Vinidex.
“I have a real passion for Australian manufacturing and I’m excited to be joining an advanced manufacturer with such a rich tradition of success,” Elliott says.
“This is a company that demonstrates the real strength of Australian advanced manufacturing and our global comparative advantage.”
The investment is part of an expansion that involves relocating plastic manufacturing currently undertaken in New Zealand to South Australia.
Elliott is currently working on a 3-5 year global growth strategy for Philmac, aiming for development in Asia and Africa.
“There is untapped potential overseas for Australian plastic pipe fittings across sectors including plumbing, civil, agriculture and mining just to name a few,” he says.
