World Plumbing Conference lands next week

The triennial World Plumbing Conference lands in Melbourne next week and it isn’t too late to register your attendance.

The event offers a unique opportunity for the global plumbing community to come together for knowledge sharing, networking and professional development.

The conference offers opportunities to share knowledge and expertise without borders and at each conference the World Plumbing Council is inspired to see the spread of ideas back across the world.

It is for participants and decision makers at all levels of industry.

WEDNESDAY 11 SEPTEMBER

10.00 Registration and Trade Show opens for WPC 2019
Pick up your delegate badge and WPC 2019 satchel before heading through to the trade exhibit area for a coffee before official proceedings begin

11.00 – WPC 2019 proceedings begin
WPC Chair Shayne La Combre will open formal proceedings before the first keynote presentation from Mark Pesce

12.45 – Lunch


13.30 – 16.30 – Products Pillar session
includes a special focus on downstream hydrogen

17.00 – 19.00 Welcome Reception @ the General Assembly
presented by Master Plumbers Australia and New Zealand

The General Assembly is located just outside of the convention centre doors on the banks of the Yarra River. Watch the sun go down and enjoy a beverage as you discuss all the events of the day

THURSDAY 12 SEPTEMBER 2019

8.00 Registration desk opens


9.00 Participation Pillar session
Mark McManus, General President of the largest plumbing union in the world (USA/Canada) kicks off this session which focuses on all things training and education related before presentations from Grant Stewart, Jane Stokie, Alexey Evtiukhin, Hans-Peter Kaufmann, Cara Reil, Robert Funston, Richard Hutchinson and Tan Wee Teck

10.00 Legionella Management breakout session
Presented by the Legionella Management Advisory Group (LMAG)

David Harper, Public Heath Consultant and Dr Richard Bentham, Public and Environmental Health Microbiologist provide an in-depth look at the issues surrounding legionella management.


12.00 – Extended Tradeshow Lunch


13.30 – 4.30pm – Protection Pillar session 
Community safety is the focus of the Protection pillar session. It begins with a keynote from Vanessa Robinson, Founder and CEO of The Chase and Tyler Foundation, which works to promote the importance of CO testing in all homes. Martin Sawyers, Lea Smith, David Harper, Paul Daley, Justine Ross and Yvonne Singer follow with a diverse range of presentations which will ensure that you understand the important role that quality plumbing plays in the safety of our communities.

13.30 Women in Plumbing breakout session
Presented by the Master Plumbers Association of Australia and New Zealand

Women in trades and women in leadership roles. Keynote presenters Swathi Saralaya and Lisa Cutler will begin proceedings before a panel of speakers including Penny Cornah, Sue Eddy and Kimberley Smyth discuss the many opportunities available in the plumbing industry.



5pm – 7pm Welcome event at Marvel Stadium presented by Caroma Smart Command
Marvel Stadium is one of Australia’s leading multi-purpose venues, designed to cater for major sport and entertainment events hosting up to 55,000 fans. Caroma Smart Command invites registered delegates to enjoy the view of the spectacular grounds while drinks and snacks are served.  Tours to the locker rooms will give you a true insider experience

FRIDAY 13 SEPTEMBER

8.30 Registration desk opens


9.00 Practices Pillar session includes a special focus on the Sustainable Development Goals

Peter DeMarco, Dr Markus Lenger, Dr Lynne Jack, Ryan Milne, Allan Dumalay, Rosie Wheen and Rob Gell will cover a range of practices related issues with particular focus on water-related issues and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal targets

8.30 Backflow Prevention breakout session
Presented by the Backflow Prevention Association of Australia (BPAA)
 
International backflow prevention subject matter experts Richard Aitken, Paul Daley, Stephen Jennison and Robert Knowles discuss how cross contamination can be prevented and how the water supplier can prepare themselves for similar incidents before hosting a workshop on how to introduce and manage a backflow prevention policy.

9.00 Fire Protection breakout session
Presented by the National Fire Industry Association of Australia (NFIA)
 
Fire protection experts will discuss contemporary issues affecting the industry.  Speakers soon to be announced!
