Pain lingers long after floods disappear

When you’re not on the spot to experience the damage that more than a metre of rainfall can do and the flooding aftermath, it’s hard to appreciate the devastation.

They’ve just lived through a tough couple of weeks looking after their own families – and now have the unenviable task of putting this large regional city back together in hot, damp conditions.

The local chapters of the industry contracting associations would be a good starting point to see what is actually required.

Over 80,000 homes have been damaged and the insurance industry has been left to fill the voids left in the lives of many.

As locals go back to their homes in North Queensland after flooding, general safety is at the forefront of people’s minds.

Plumbing checks are being urged by Master Plumber’s Association of Queensland (MPAQ) and they are asking people to adhere to health and safety checks in their homes, with plumbing checks being a high priority.

With that in mind, if anyone south of Townsville is out of work or looking to fill their forward order book, it sounds like your skills could be put to good use.
