ARC launches online tool to report refrigerant breaches
The Australian Refrigeration Council (ARC) has launched a ‘Report a Breach’ form on the ARCtick website, making it easier for industry members and the public to flag potential breaches of refrigerant handling regulations under the Ozone Protection and Synthetic Greenhouse Gas Management Act 1989.
Users can submit reports quickly via arctick.org, with the option to remain anonymous. The initiative supports ARC’s ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility and regulatory integrity within the refrigeration and air conditioning (RAC) sector.
The ARCtick website provides guidance on what constitutes a reportable breach, which includes unlawful discharge of regulated refrigerants, working without a permit, possessing refrigerant cylinders without a valid permit, suspected breaches of permit conditions and false claims or advertising of permits.
Each submission is reviewed by ARC’s compliance team, who may carry out further enquiries or engage directly with the individuals or businesses involved. High-risk issues may be escalated to the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) for regulatory action.
By making breach reporting more accessible, the upgraded tool reinforces ARC’s commitment to transparency, accountability and continuous improvement across the RAC industry, helping uphold high standards and protect Australia’s environmental and regulatory frameworks.
