Architectural roles in water efficiency

Geberit has announced its new CEU course, “Designing Water Conservation into Buildings: Water Efficiency Enhancing Sustainable Development,” which is designed to assist architects in their green design efforts and remain current on the latest sustainable building issues.

The course amplifies the essence of water scarcity and demonstrates how high-efficiency systems are essential – ultimately affecting total building impact.

“Geberit’s focus on sustainability is part of our culture. This opportunity to earn CEU credits and learn how water efficiency begins with architects extends our reach in communicating the importance of water efficiency,” says John Fitzgerald, director of marketing for Geberit North America.

“With increasing global awareness of social and environmental issues, we see even greater potential for continuing to educate on water-conserving technology.”

The program discusses the expanding role architects play in water efficiency designs. It helps participants better understand the different types of green design tools available for restroom applications. Ultimately, an architect will understand the expanding role water conservation plays in green design, and be able to strike a balance between sustainable needs and design flexibility.

The course brings the following topics into focus:

1. The expanding role water conservation plays in green design.
2. Identifying water efficiency within all aspects of design.
3. Rediscovering the power of water
4. Understanding design tools, including ASHRAE GreenGuide, Alliance for Water Efficiency, USGBC LEED® 2009, and EPA WaterSense®
5. Identifying high-efficiency solutions
6. The significant positive impact water conservation has on society.

Whether a professional is knowledgeable of sustainability issues, or is a beginner, this program is basic and meets the needs of every experience level. Architects, specifiers, interior designers and other design professionals can all participate and benefit.
